Child care centres
Sir, — Day care centres that are subsidised by Government or council grants are providing some of the best facilities for pre-school children. Incidentally, this is why these centres have such long waiting lists. Does Margaret Farquhar (August 6) honestly think that children will gain from greater subsidies to parents? This is like saying that we should not have a free education system and that instead we should give subsidies to parents. All mothers using preschool child care pay taxes to and are entitled to facilities for education of their children. — Yours, etc., DORIS CHURCH. August 8, 1980.
