School uniforms
Sir, — As a school pupil who cycles 9km to school each day, I would like to back H. Duff (August 7) in the request for brightly coloured parkas in school uniforms. I have been witness ,to several accidents this winter involving cyclists in dark colours, and as a ressult I think cyclists should be encouraged to wear bright colours. I have been discouraged from wearing a bright-coloured parka, as it is hot a part of -my school uniform. Taking the initiative in this matter is apparently, sinful. I feel this discouragement is quite wrongs Surely “correct” school uniform is of no importance compared with the safety of pupils who often have no other means of getting to school. —- Yours, etc., CHRYS HORN August 7, 1980.
