Maths and segregation

Sir, — The article ("The Press,” August 7) concerning girls and maths suggests that the only way girls can be good at maths is in segregated classes. In my opinion, as a girl, top of my two seventh form maths classes, the article is another piece of useless research. I think, considering my position as being an only girl in a class of 10, I can disprove what is said in the article and I am sure there are others who can do the same. — Yours, etc., ELIZABETH O’KEEFE, Westport. August 7, 1980,
