Canterbury win hockey at tourney
Canterbury A had an easy 6-1 win against Malvern A in an inter-provincial women’s hockey tournament, at Timaru, on Saturday. Canterbury led 3-0 at halftime and continued to mount heavy pressure in the sec-ond-half against an outclassed Malvern side.
Shirley Haig, the New Zealand representative, scored four of Canterbury’s goals. The others were scored by Judy Phillips and Nicky Sherriff. In its second game Canterbury A beat Ashburton A 6-0. Results from the tournament were:
