Barley review by merchants
A’ consortium of merchants who recently announced that it would offer farmers $l3O a tonne for barley delivered to Timaru or Bluff for export, is reviewing its price. The convener of the merchants, Mr H. LampenSmith, said theywere evaluating the demands of the internal market and world market prices. The aim was to determine a price that would encourage farmers to take up contracts but would also consider users’ requirements. .
The Canterbury (N.Z.) Malting Company, Ltd, recently announced that it | Would review its price for I malting barley. Its general I manager, Mr H. P. Kear- / ney, said that the price of I $135 a tonne announced ; about a month ago would 1 be increased.
