Airline wants landing rights
Continental Airlines has told the Christchurch City Council that it has a “positive interest” in landing rights at Christchurch Airport. The council has decided to include a letter from the air- ; line in submissions which it is making to the Govern-. 1
ment on runway extensions for the airport. Although Continental Airlines’ letter said that it had no plans for including Christchurch on .its New Zealand route for the balance of 1980, it said that “this could well change in the future."
; “Facilities, should . this happen would then become a ■ matter of prime import1 ance,” the airline said. ; The airline assured the ’ Mayor of Christchurch (Mr Hamish Hay) of strong sup- ! port in forward planning for the airport.
