A $315,000 contract to pro-', vide catering . for United States naval personnel at theAntarctic during the summer.; season has been won for the second time by ,;Jthe. Christchurch-based company,. Huntsbury House (N.Z.). 'Ltd.' The company catered for? the United States Navy/ at McMurdo Base last summer. . O About 30 men would be re-;.: cruited by the company to perform mess attendant-ser-vices, including cleaning and. manning servicing lines for. meals for up to 1200 United' States naval personnel, said', the company’s southern regional manager .(Mr P. D.' Wright). Last year 120 men applied' for the *3O positions, and Mr Wright expected that - the:, telephones “would ring hot”? tvhen news of the contract', was released. Applicants will go through' a strenuous series of. interviews and medical' which are required by the! United. States Navy. Seven of the successful applicants will be sent to.Mc*< Murdo Base in September, and the rest will follow in October. They will return to. New Zealand in February', 1981.
