Complaint upheld
The Broadcasting Corporation has upheld a complaint by the Dunedin-based group, Monitor, against Television New Zealand.
The complaint concerned a commercial for an Rl6 film, “The Bitch,” screened at 5.15 p.m. on June 10, 1980. In its reply to Monitor, the corporation said the commercial should not. have been broadcast at such a time as the board had for some years followed a policy that all “R”-classified films are to be scheduled after 8.30 p.m. The secretary of the corporation- (Mr Keith Hay) said that in this case a mistake had been made in the scheduling section at Christchurch when a filler commercial had been hurriedly selected. “From now on all commercials for ‘R’ films will be stamped to the effect that they are not to be played until after 8.30 p.m. the board is still looking closely at the matter of programme trailers, with a view to laying down administrative guidelines,” he said.
