F.O.L. policy
Sir, — John N. Baineaves of Rangiora (June 5) contends that both Labour and Socred would have failed since 1975, implying that the total failure of the Muldoon administration is due to circumstances beyond its control. Neither Labour nor Socred would have embarked on the deliberate economic policy based on massive unemployment which alienated and caused the massive exodus of skilled workers. Neither Labour nor Socred would have totally ignored the principles of social justice. The debts and deficits still, skyrocket in spite of the rigidly imposed formulas of National intelligentsia, while inflation is beyond the control of their genii. If the alleged superior minds of Muldoon Government cannot cope, neither Labour nor Socred could have possibly done worse. Under government by either party the nation could not be more deeply divided than it is today. Under National “New Zealand as we want it” is an impossible dream. — Yours etc.,
ARTHUR MAY. June 5, 1980.
