X-ray costs increase
Christchurch doctors have been asked to reduce their requests for X-rays because of a 300 per cent increase in the cost of X-ray film since last year. A routine chest X-ray cost about 68 cents late last year, but because of the increased cost of film and other higher
charges it now costs almost; $5.
The Medical Superinten-dent-in-Chief of the North Canterbury Hospital Board (Dr R. A. Fairgray) said yesterday that the sharp cost increases had not been matched by extra money, from the Government to ease the problem.
