Amyl fit for Trentham
Special correspondent Palmerston North
Timber Wolf let the Ivil stable down badly when he failed to handle the softtrack conditions on the fir-st day at Trentham. But in Amyl the stable could make amends in tomorrow’s Oceania Handicap. Amyl can handle any type of ground but when it’s soft he is in his element. He will clash with Prince Majestic but judging by the way he worked at Awapuni yesterday he could put the impressive first-day winner to the test.
Amyl is topweight in the event and he will give Bill Skelton one of his few rides at the meeting. Yesterday Amyl worked over 800 m on the course proper with the improving Marina. The ground was good and they took 51.5 s for the 800 m, the last 600 m in 37.55. They finished together and both were working well. Terex and Taitan worked over 1600 m in Imin 555, the last 600 m in 445. Taitan is improving and might be a chance in the Newtown Steeplechase. Terex is not engaged this week.
