Good trial for today
Special corres. - Wellington Rocky Show, which is to run in the Resolution Handicap today, topped off his preparation with a very fast 600 m at Trentham yesterday morning. Fast work took place on the outside of the trial grass and on the plough. Both tracks were so Close to firm that it did not matter. Times for some gallops were quicker than normal for the time of the year. Rdcky Show had Spender for company for the sprint. Rocky Snow had a length to spare over Spender and the time was a brisk 355. Prince Alvaro sprinted smartly, coming to the finish of 800 m in 50.55, the last 600 m in 36.55. . . Trainer Roley. Tempertoft Was a little disappointed With him after Saturday attd if hfe does not come up td satisfaction this week—he runs oh Saturday •— TempertOh may spell him. Prince Alvaro haS been suffering from back trouble. ShawOn, with trainer Jim Clement up, had two solid rounds on tpe plough. He will be fit for Trentham’s final day on Saturday. Gay Sharon worked on the: trial and she ended 800 m in 545, the last 600 m in 42.55. While the time was not fast, ; she had slowed right down, before the line. John Wayne ended his work with a smart 600 m in 375. He will run on the final day of the Wellington meeting. Vermont ended 800 m in 525, the last 600 m ih 38s. He needed his run on Saturday and may not be without a chance today. Verner stablemates in the Lyall Handicap, Givenchy, and Ocean Island, eased. down the chute and across the course proper. The final; 600 m took 455, but they were I only really breezing along over the final 300 m.
