NZPA-Reuter Dallas, Texas Jimmy Connors, clearly on his way back to the pinnacle of professional tennis, yesterday defeated his fellow American, John McEnroe, to take the $lOO,OOO World Championship Tennis title 2-6, 7-6, 6-1, 6-2. Connors was in firm con-
trol of his game and his emotions from the second set, and his determined playing won over the large crowd of 16,000 watching the match at the Reunion Arena. Connors’ speed, baseline passing shots, excellent return of serve and flawless offensive lobs all contributed to his victory.
