Films and plays
Sir, —lf Mrs Renee Stanton goes ahead with her petition* I am going to start one against it I tired of
people like Mrs Stanton trying to tell us what we should or should not see. If she does not want to go and see nude shows, films, etc., she should not go and let those who want to decide for themselves. There is too much publicity for the likes of Mrs Stanton who want this country to go backward instead of forward. — Yours, etc., MURRAY SWANN, April 14, 1980.
Sir, — On Sunday evening I heard Robin Askwith, guest on Radio Avon’s talk-, back with the talk-back host and callers airing their views on Mrs Renee Stanton, in particular, and public morality in general. The talk-back host frequently voiced his personal and obviously one-sided views, unlike more experienced and restrained talk-back hosts whose job is to “referee” or act as a “go-between” in arguments and opinions presented and shared by, guest and caller. The confident Mr Askwith, whose views were supported and substantiated by host and callers commented that Mrs Stanton and “minority” groups .“give God a> bad name.” It seems that many of us see God “the way we want him,” created in man’s image and therefore imagine that what pleases us, pleases him.- We should all consider the illustration about not' judging others and picking their faults when we are blinded by our own.- — Yours, etc., , PAUL F. CLARKSON. April 14, 1980.
