Administration of
parks Sir, — As a regular park user, I support the ’ Government’s moves to reorganise national park administration. The National Parks Authority does not represent the public. It is stacked with vested interests such as the Forest Service which is openly antagonistic to national parks. The reorganisation will remove these departments from the authority and give the public a better say. National parks are under constant threat from economic interests as we have recently seen in Westland National Park* There the park board has been unable to defend its own management plan from attacks by tourist operators. A stronger and more professional administration is needed to ensure the, continuing protection of our national parks. — Yours, etc., A. J. CRAIG, February 26, 1980.
