PA Wellington A shipment of aviation gasoline which did not meet required standards on its . arrival in Lyttelton last month has been - cleared for distribution, a /Shell - company spokesman has said. The small shipment from Singapore initially did not meet specifications for aviation gas, but showed a marginal difference in quality, the spokesman said. The gas was held at the Shell installation at Lyttelton until quality tests two
jweeks ago showed the fuel was of a suitable standard and had been cleared by both the company and Civil Aviation, he said. The fuel was blended with other aviation gasoline to improve the quality. Aviation gas is sensitive to the climate and its quality can change according to the weather.
A Mobil company spokesman said that the avaiation gasoline shortage was only temporaiy, -and it should be' eased with other shipments expected in April and May.
