Robbery charges withdrawn

PA Auckland The Auckland police have withdrawn charges of robbery against two men extradited from Australia last November. The men were charged with robbing the Western Springs post office last August. The withdrawal came after the arrest of two Auckland men now charged with robbery. The extradited men, Robert Thomas Brown, aged 26, and John James Adamson, aged 22, were to have appeared before a preliminary hearing on March 5. They were extradited from New South Wales after being I

interviewed by the police there at the request of the Auckland police. Brown was on bail pending his preliminary hearing, but Adamson had been in custody since his return. He has served a 12-month jail sentence on another matter since November 19. The other two men have since appeared in the Magistrate’s Court at Auckland. Michael Anthony Anderson, aged 21, will appear before the Court again on February 28 on remand.

Christopher William Morris, aged 19, admitted the robbery charge and has been committed to the Supreme Court for sentence.
