NZPA Darwin 1 A New Zealand man, aged 29. was shot in the chest with a rifle by a colleague after he broke wind in his ear. the Magistrate’s Court in Darwin has been told. The Crown Prosecutor (Mr Graham Houston) told the Court it would be alleged that Lionel Thomas Curtis, aged 35, had taken exception to this and had shot and killed Murray James McNaught at the Adelaide .Stiver Hotel, about 90 kni south of Darwin. on Augsut 10. F ■ \ Mr Houston was opening the t Crown case against Curtis. ' who offered no nlea to a charge of murder. The prosecutor said Curtis had been drinking with other people on the hotel veranda when Mr McNaught approached. He turned - his backside towards Curtis’ face and broke wind ■in his ear. Mr Houstons s»id blood spurted several feet from a wound 'in v Mr McNaught’s chest,’ and ont witness was covered from bead to foot.
