S.C.F. thanks
Sir, — I express the gratitude of the North Canterbury branch of Save the Children Fund to those who made our collection day on Se’urday successful. To the many organisers of our collecting areas, and to the hundreds of collectors, we say thank you. Especially we thank the people of Christchurch who gave so generously. Many have been disturbed by recent statements on the practical value
o' overseas aid, but response to this appeal has shown that whatever may be the merits of planning for future change, in the eyes of the public the realities of the present require that to bring medicine to the diseased, essential foods to the malnourished, and shelter to the homeless, an efficient experienced relief organisation must co-operate with the administrative services of the country whose people are in need. Envelopes which could not be collected can be left at any branch of the National Bank or posted to S.C.F. — Yours, etc., C. G. ANDERSON, For the appeal committee. October I, 1979.
