Electricity price
Sir. — I sympathise with Mrs E. J. Steincamp (July 18),
who stated that there are solo-parent families, some elderly, and other low-income earners suffering, due to the exorbitant price of electricity. Many New Zealanders have shown great compassion to-> wards the Vietnamese refu-. gees. Why can’t we show, some of this compassion towards our own kind? I challenge the powers that be to grant a heavy reduction in electricity rates to those unfortunates, even if it means higher charges to the rest of our community.—Yours, etc.*' J. P. STUART, L July 18, 1979.
