Black jockeys accepted

NZPA-Reuter Durban Blacks have broken into another former all-white preserve in South Africa. They can now become jockeys. The Jockey Club has announced that the Government has authorised it to admit blacks to its training academy. However, the academy first must be modified tc provide separate living quarters for whites and blacks.

The Jockey Club said the first black entrants, aged 15 and 16, would be able to join the five-year training programme next year.
