The day in parliament
PA Wellington A French Parliamentary delegation was welcomed to the floor of the House when Parliament sat at 3.10 p.m. yesterday. The Maori Trustees Amendment Act and the Auckland War Memorial Museum Maintenance Act were given the Royal Assent.
The annual reports of the Small Business Agency, the Standards Council, the Department of Internal Affairs, the National Water and Soil Conservations Authority, the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research, and the Testing Laboratories Registration Council were tabled. Members tabled nine motions.
The Industries Development Commission Amendment Bill was introduced by the Minister of Trade and Industry (Mr AdamsSchneider). The report of the Statutes Revision Select Committee’s investigations into regulations under which earless days and the weekend petrol sales ban were introduced was tabled and debated until the 5.30 p.m. tea adjournment.
The interrupted Budget debate continued until the House rose at 10.30 p.m.
