Skylab
Sir, — “1 shot an arrow into the air ... it fell to Earth I know not where.” And what is more, those clever scientists do not care. They are just as irresponsible as whoever it was who shot that mythical arrow, and the whole Earth is the target for their falling Skylab. Brains they have in abundance, but not common sense. What is being done to prevent future risks of this sort, and why is everyone so complacent, when the whole world should be loudly and clearly protesting against any further chance being taken of our sky becoming a rubbish dump for worn-out skylabs and other nuclear debris? This example, regardless of its outcome, should be the only lesson needed. The first skylab to fall should be the last. — Yours, etc., NANCY ECCLES, Kaikoura. July 6, 1979.
