Support for rally grows
Government employees will be asked to join the Canterbury Trades Council’s public rally in Christchurch next Friday. The Canterbury convener of the Combined State Unions (Mr J. E. Comhill) said yesterday that a meeting would be held on Monday to complete arrangements for the participation of Government employees in the rally. The chairman Of the C.S.U. (Mr I. Reddish) will join the president of the Federation of Labour (Mr W. J. Knox) as a guest speaker. The Government employees will not be stopping work. They will have to make their own arrangements to attend the rally by using glide time or having extended lunch-times.
