Shop arson charge against man
A man, allegedly respond sible for the fire which badly damaged Brookers Dairy at the corner of Cranford and Berwick Streets on May 6, appeared yesterday in the Magistrate’s Court before Mr F. G. Paterson. S.M. Rodney James Birchfield, aged 31, a knitter, is charged with breaking and entering, and wilfully setting fire to the dairy. He was allowed bail in the sum of $lOOO and was remanded to May 16.
A woman, aged. 32. who is charged with wilfully setting fire to Huntsburv Home in Huntsbury Avenue, on April 17, also made a brief, appearance.
The defendant, whose nam- was suppressed, was remanded on bail to the same date.
