Corruption probe
President Ferdinand Marcos, of the Philippines, disclosed wide-scale investigations in all Government Ministries and forecast a series of anti-corruption arrests. He also blocked releases of funds for supplies without his personal clearance. The announcement from the Presidential palace after the arrest of a director and former auditor in the Education Department, and the earlier detention of several dozen officials and contractors, over the misuse of SIM in the Public Highways Ministry.
