A quiet night
Guy Fawkes’ night in • Christchurch last evening was, according to the Fire Service, “very, very quiet” ■ as compared with other occa. ■'sions in previous years. A police spokesman said 1 that “things were reasonably ’ busy,” but added that there I was nothing serious. By 11.30 p.m., the Fire Service had attended only two bonfires at. New Brighton beach. A spokesman for the service said that there were always bonfires on the beach on Guy Fawkes night and that the calls were routine.
