Good prices for wool
The average price for wool sold at the last Christchurch sale on September 28 was 210.61 c a kilogram, which was nearly 11c or about 51 per cent higher than at "the same sale last year. The average was almost 20c up on the August sale, which included a sizeable offering of crutchings. According to figures supplied by the secretary of the Christchurch Wooibrokers’ Association (Mr M. C. Tip» ping) 21,714 bales were sold at an average of $295.61 per bale, which had an average weight of 140.36 kg. Proceeds from the sale amounted to $6,418,779.76.
