Sir, — Mr Lindhorst attempts to draw a smoke screen around the real issue in South Africa. For well over a hundred years the whites of his country have denied the blacks, and those of mixed race, a proper education. Why? An uneducated man is forced into a menial job, is more easily kept in line, has little brain “muscle” to fight for his rights, and is liable to become confused and fall from 20-storey police buildings. The result of this “no proper education” policy is an outstandingly high standard of living for the white’s, wrested from the sweat of the backs of the blacks. What I have said is true. Mr Lindhorst, should kick the revolting race laws into the trash-can where they belong and liberate his own country because, as surely as day follows night, there are those who will do it for him. — Yours, etc., GRAEME R.
