Abortion as election issue

Sir, — In reply to Pat Roughan (August 18) it is agreed that abortion is not the only issue; it. is however, the primary issue. Our right to work and to receive a just wage are vitally important, but all presuppose our right to life. For a just society, true solutions'to our community’s pressing social problems can- only be found when our first basic right to life conferred at conception is respected by all. Mr Dalgety’s encouragement to support candidates who respect life, is sound advice. Just as no person in his right mind could support a candidate who believed that only some had a right to work, a right to a just wage, or a right to freedom of speech, so just as logically, a candidate who did not believe in the right to life of all, should not be supported. — Yours, etc., K. ORR. August 20, 1978.
