Napier, defending Its New Zealand women’s first division basketball championship at the North Shore Y.M.C.A iast night beat Otago. 84-51, but could be destined to meet the side again in the final play-offs. Although there was a 13 point* margin between the sides there was much more purpose in their play than the other two teams in their section. Auckland and Wellington. Auckland the runner-up last year, managed onlv a 54-43 win over Wellington. In section two Canterbury beat Nelson, 73-56. In the other match Hamilton beat North Shore, 73-30.
