Bowls vacancy filled
The president of the Christchurch Bowling Centre, Mr A. G. Murray, hag been elected to the vacancy on the council of the New Zealand Bowling Association created by the death in May of Mr B. W. Sinclair. Mr Murray, who also succeeded Mr Sinclair as Christchurch president, was one of three nominations for the position, the other two being Mr D. J. Shuker and Mr A. Memory. When the election was held at this week's meeting of the Christchurch centre. Mr Murray received 77 votes. Mr Shuker 45, and Mr Memory 23. There will be a Christchurch vacancy again next year when
the senior of the three councillors. Mr D. Martin, steps up to the position of junior vice-presi-dent.
Tlie other sitting councillor, Mr W. J. Cole, has been appointed Christchurch centre coaching coordinator. another role Mr Sinclair filled. The centre passed a motion from the Burwood Club that In future centre representative teams be based on nominations from club selectors. Clubs will be asked to make nominations in line with their membership totals, to a limit of 10. However, the centre selectors retain the right to go outside the nominations if they see fit.
