No stand tickets

The numerous inquiries directed to the office of the Canterbury Rugby Union for tickets for the second test against Australia have all been in vain.

Mr R. W. Thomas, the president of the union, told last evening's meeting of the management committee that no grandstand tickets were available, but enclosure seats could be purchased from the Town Hall booking office.

As a precaution a third block of seats would be erected in the enclosure, although it might not be required. One block was already sold and another had been half filled. Some former All Blacks, who were eligible for an allocation,

had been too lat. making their approaches to the union, and some persons had even been prepared to buy seats in restricted viewing areas. Five players from lower grade teams appeared before the judicial committee. Two, K. Tucker (Sydenham, fourth grade) and a Shirley sixth grade player, were cautioned for misconduct; B. Hagwood (Belfast) was stood down until after August 19; J. Vines (Sydenham, fourth grade) will miss two games for foul play; and M. Drury (Hornby, third grade) has been banned for the remainder of the season, including friendly games, for kicking an opponent on the ground and abusing the referee.
