Social classes
Sir, — Even a superficial examination of New Zealand’s reward and opportunity structure reveals stable patterns of stratification which could very appropriately be called social classes. As Mr Hartley (June 21) finds the spectre of social class such a frightening one, this suggestion would probably upset him further. It would be more fitting, however, if it caused him to have a closer look at the society in which he lives. —- Yours, etc.. M. C. LANGE. June 21, 1978.
