Water sports on Estuary

Sir, — It is pleasing to see that certain members of the City Council are still fighting for the rights of the residents who live near the Estuary. Although many organisations have made representations over several years to have this noise nuisance removed, they were eventually beaten by a clause in the Harbours Act. Hence, the latest attempt to have water ski-ing banned on the Estuary through another clause in the Harbours Act, makes good reading. The great majority of the citizens who reside around the Estuary are entitled to a peaceful environment. Let us hope that the latest attempt by City Council members brings success. — Yours, B. K. HANSEN, Hokitika. June 22, 1978.
