Mist upsets golfers
NZPA-Reuter Southport The young Briton, Nick Faldo, kept his head in a swirling mist while others lost theirs on the Royal Birkdale course yesterday to take a two-stroke lead after i two rounds of the British Professional Golfers’ Association championships. Faldo, the 20-year-old hero ,of Britain’s effort in last i year’s Ryder Cup competition against the United States, shot a four-under-par 68 to seize the initiative from two collapsing stars, Severiano Ballesteros (Spain) and Dale Hayes (South Africa). The New Zealander, Simon Owen, is well placed on 145 after rounds of 74 and 71 while fellow New Zealander Bob Charles is hack on 151 after rounds of and 74.
