Hadlee hits 101

NZPA London Richard Hadlee, the Canterbury fast bowler, hit his maiden first class century in only 45 overs and finished on 101 not out as Nottinghamshire made 320 for six declared on the first day of the county championship cricket match at Trent Bridge, on Saturday. Hadlee's score included 13 fours and three sixes. With Clive Rice, of South Africa, Hadlee punished the Derbyshire bowlers, Rice hitting a valu-

able 85 to lift Nottinghamshire after Derbyshire had taken three wickets for 27 runs. Lancashire was in trouble against its traditional rival, Yorkshire. The Yorkshire fast bowler, Graham Stevenson, took a career best of eight for 65 and only the West Indian, Clive Lloyd, saved Lancashire from total rout with 58 of the 123 total. Yorkshire looked to be in trouble at 20 for four in reply, but Phil Carrick hit a fine century as Yorkshire took command.
