Meo wins yachting
PA Auckland A sixth placing in the seventh and final race of the national Laser class yachting championship off Takapunk Beach yesterday was sufficient for Paul Meo, of Wellington, to narrowly win the title. Meo won the title bv a mere 0.3 of a point from the Auckland helmsman. John Douglas, in blusterv conditions. Douglas finished fifth in the last race of the contest and only just failed to steal the title from Meo’s grasp. Meo had held a two-noint advantage going into the race, won by Peter Lester, who took the world O.K. dinghy title in the same waters last year. In ail. Lester won three of the races in the seven-race series, but a disaualificatinp and a withdrawal in two of the races reduced him to only tenth over all.
