Statement on umpire
PA Auckland The England cricket team manager, Mr Ken Barrington, yesterday issued a statement in response to a release by the N.Z. Cricket Council chairman. Mr Walter Hadlee, about umoiring in the second test in Christchurch. “Through a misunderstanding an impression may have been given in Christchurch that England obiected to Fred Goodall as one of the umpires for the Auckland test. “No objection was made to Mr Goodall and we look forward to seeing him standing in matches in England in the coming sea!son.” the statement said.
