'Doctor’ tries again
N’ZPA Sydney A man facing two charges of posing as a doctor in Sydney had been deported from New Zealand after being jailed there on a similar charge, a Sydney court has been told. The man, Patrick Thompson. alias Donald James Joseph Cameron, was remanded without bail to March 2 when he appeared before Mr R. W. Henry. S.M., in the Sutherland Court on Wednesday. The police prosecutor. Sergeant R. Rostorn. said it: was alleged that Thompson, who is 47, had in the last
fortnight treated at least; four patients in a Sydney! seaside surgery and had! assisted in at least one oper-i ation at a suburban hospital. | Sergeant Rostorn told the! Court that Thompson had; been jailed five months ago; on a bogus doctor charge in l New Zealand. Asked by the Magistrate what he would do if released on bail, Thompson said: "L would continue to be employed in private practice to raise the money to fight this! case.” Thompson was remanded without bail. “i am afraid you will abscond,” said the Magistrate. 1
