Thomas petition
NZPA staff correspondent A London law firm has lodged a petition with the Privy Council seeking a special hearing on the Arthur Allan Thomas case. The - petition, lodged on’ February 15. seeks special! leave to argue that the judicial committee of the council has jursidiction to examine the New Zealand Court of Appeal's rejection in 1975
of an attempt to have! Thomas’s convictions I quashed. Mr Anthony Burton of the London firm of Simon, Muirhead and Allan, said it would be some weeks before the judicial committee responded. If the response was favourable, the Thomas campaigners’ lawyers would then be allowed to approach the committee to argue the jurisdiction case.
