Record yield of wheat?

PA Ashburton A paddock of wheat in the Methven area has produced what is believed to be a New Zealand record yield. The 13-acre paddock of Kopara produced 571 sacks, or 47 tonnes, which gave a yield of just over 120 bushels to the acre. The farmer on whose property the wheat was grown wishes to remain anonymous; but the figures have been verified by a grain agent at Methven. A spokesman for the firm said the wheat had been stored and would be used for seed. “I have come across yields of 75 to 80 bushels of Kopara. but never as high as 120,” he said. The yield was even more remarkable in light of the fact that wheat yields this vear had generally been lower than normal, he said.
