Four left in bowls

Two Auckland teams, skipped by Olive Hanlon (Nicholson Park) and Emma Granich
(Mairangi Bay) reached the semifinals of the New Zealand women’s pairs bowling championships after three more rounds of post-section play at New Plymouth yesterday. Joining them in the semifinals are an Otago team, skipped by Althea Triggs (Caversham) and one from Hawke’s Bay, skipped by Merle Symes (Hastings). Hanlon plays Triggs and Granich, the runner-up in the fours championship last week, plays Symes.
However, there la no definite time for the semi-finals and final to be played. The singles championship, with 520 entrants,
starts today and the final pairs matches will be played as the finalists become available after their singles matches. The championships are due to end on Sunday.
D. White (Linwood), the sole surviving Christchurch skip in round four, lost to J. Osborne (Manawatu),. 17-16. Later results:—
