Grant of $42M for hospitals
A grant of almost S42M has been allocated by the Government for the running expenses of general hospitals in the North Canterbury Hospital Board’s area for 1978-79. This represents an annual expenditure per head of population in the board’s area of $122, double that allocated in 1976. The board must keep constant pressure on the Government for increases in the allocation based on a population basis, the finance committee of the board decided yesterday. Allocations to hospital boards in Auckland amounted to $ll5 per head of population; Waikato, $137; Wellington, $111; and Otago, $lB9.
