NZPA Melbourne Australian and Victorian records crumbled in the K.B. inter national swimming meeting at the Olympic Park Pool last night. In the women’s 100 metre backstroke. la-year-old Deborah Forster. of Melbourne, set an Australian record of Imin 4.B7see. She finished well ahead oi Michelle de Vries, of N.S.W. The New Zealand champion, la-year-old Andrea Hawcridge, of Auckland. was third in Imin. S.Blsec. Afterwards the New Zealand team manager. Mr Gordon MacKenzie. said: “It was a good swim by Andrea. It was about one second outside her Commonwealth Games target.” The surprise packet of the night was Peter Coughlah, of N.S.W.. who beat an international field in the men’s 100 metre freestyle. Coughlan set a Victorian record of 53.705ec. Coughlan beat the European champion, Andreas Sehmidt. of West Germany, who finished second, in 53.905ec. Third was the Russian, Vladimir Bure, in 54.065ec.
