Pakistan dismissed
NZPA-Reuter Hyderabad England dismissed Pakistan for 275 on the second morning of the second test yesterday, capturing its last five wickets for 55 in 80 minutes.
The total would have been considerably less but for some dashing strokes from Javed Miandad, the 20-year-old righthander who plays for Sussex in the England county championship. He finished with 88 not out, having added 40 runs yesterday morning. As the end of the innings came in sight Miandad was prancing down the pitch to the fast bowlers, and drove John Lever for a colossal six over long-on. The Yorkshire off-spinner, Geoff Cope, made the initial break-through in the morning and then two run-outs and the second new ball polished off the tail. The England openers, Geoff Boycott and Mike Breariey, survived for half an hour before lunch, putting on 17. Boycott’s share was 13, which included fours off both opening bowlers, Sikandar Bakht and Liaquat Ali.
