Philippines ties down
NZPA-Reuter Manila One of the strongest typhoons in several years, with central winds of about 205 km/h, is expected to hit the Philippines coast early today. Warning signals have been hoisted over the capital and most of the surrounding Central Luzon “rice bowl” area, and schools have been closed.
Philippines Airlines has cancelled all domestic and international flights in and out of Manila for at least 24 hours.
