TV tour of France?
Sir, —I agree with your article (August 30) concerning TVI sending a crew to France to cover a few rugby matches. The cost involved is absolutely unwarranted, especially in view of Mr lan Cross’s recent statement that viewers may expect fewer viewing hours or more commercials. Over recent weeks we have had more than a fair share of the rugby scene; a rugby match in France is of minor interest to the majority of viewers. This is a costly project that could well be dropped. I take exception to this team going overseas at a time when we are being told to "tighten our belts.” A little “tightening” would not be amiss on the part of the administration of TVI. If, as we are informed, this trip to France is well within the television sports budget, then it is time the budget was investigated and decreased.— Yours, etc..
