Fair attendance good
In spite of the change for the worse in the weather, the number of people attending the Industries Fair so far this year has shown a slight increase over last year’s attendance. By 10 p.m. yesterday, 73,000 people had visited Canterbury Court and the fair exhibits, compared with 69,000 for the same period last year. There was a big drop yesterday, however, in the number of patrons — just over 3000 people braved the weather to visit the fair, compared with more than 7000 the same day last year.
The director of the Canterbury Manufactuers’ Association (Mr I. D. Howell) said yesterday that his organisation, which runs the fair each year, was pleased with the progress of the fair so far and that businesses there were doing well.
