Recruiting teachers
Sir, — In seeking to recruit secondary school teachers the Minister of Education should recognise that the vacancies exist princi-
pally in the less popular areas while considerable surpluses of teachers exist in other areas (especially in Christchurch). In any recruitment campaign the limits on location of employment opportunities should be clearly stated; otherwise the campaign may only serve to swell the ranks of Christchurch’s unemployed teachers. — Yours, etc..
